Usage of Carrara Marble Tiles

Marble is one of the most beautiful, versatile and durable natural stones. Since ancient times, Carrara marble tiles and mosaics have been used to decorate homes throughout the world. Marble is even strong and durable enough to be used in high-traffic areas in homes and offices.

Carrara Marble tile is like other tiles in that it is porous. In other words: It can quickly absorb any stain. To prevent staining, marble floors are sealed, which not only prevents stains, but cracks as well. Hairline or vein-like cracks are natural cracks within marble. Each and every marble tile is unique; because it is a natural stone, there is no way that each tile can be exactly the same. The natural color all depends on the specific mineral content in the marble. Homeowners find this to be either an advantage or disadvantage. It’s a disadvantage if you want to achieve a very uniform look. But if you want a natural, one-of-a-kind look, then marble is a great option. Even though marble tile is sealed after installation to prevent stains, spills still need to be wiped up promptly, especially if they are acidic in nature. Wine, vinegar, ketchup, fruit juices and any other acidic spills all have the potential to leave a stain if not wiped promptly.

Furthermore, you should never use an acid-based cleaner to clean marble tile. Bleach should also never come in contact with marble. The best cleaning tip for marble is to wipe the tiles with a damp cloth when necessary and to sweep with a soft-bristled broom.
